Ruins of a medieval hostel in Navarrete
As Mary mentioned in the last post, our original plan was to walk the Camino from St Jean to Santiago in 42 days. We have not been able to maintain a pace of 13 miles per day required to do that. We are having a great time walking at a pace of 10 miles per day so we need to shorten the distance to reach Santiago by October 21. To do so, we have decided to take a train from Burgos to Leon. This cuts out 114 miles from our original schedule and allows us to bypass the least interesting part of our journey in Spain. That section of the Camino known as the meseta is fairly flat and barren. For those following along, we are planning to reach Burgos in about one week. The local cathedral. 16th century.
Hmmmm....I am thinking you would have left in the flat part! Keep enjoying your experience. Much love.
